The HTC One (M8) is one of the hottest Android phones in the market today. We’ve reviewed a lot of it, we’ve compared a lot of it, and we’ve even changed a couple of our own paradigms in the process. Some say that the best part of the One (M8) lies in its hardware, but most of us have found HTC’s approach to software, and the company’s promptness in pushing software updates to be another important key. That story repeats itself today as HTC has just pushed a key software update to its One (M8) in a very interesting way.

HTC has just pushed Android 4.4.3 to the unlocked variant of the HTC One (M8), and if you’re wondering why this isn’t Android 4.4.4, the short answer is that you’re actually getting both. Due to the company’s commitment to push Android L to its One (M8) within 90 days after the announcement, what HTC decided to do was add the security fixes of Android 4.4.4 into the Android 4.4.3 update that you’re receiving today. This allows the company to not delay the process of getting Android L to our devices.

HTC has also committed to pushing this software update to carrier variants in the next coming weeks, so we’ll keep a look out as some of us hold US carrier variants at the moment.
