HTC One (M8) – After The Buzz, Episode 36

Most new device launches go the same way: usually the press gets review units before they’re widely available, and we get to use them for a few days -or a week if we’re lucky- as we work on our review.

Then press day arrives. The embargo on media coverage lifts, and everyone posts their reviews and videos at the same time. It’s a huge frenzy, commenters go nuts, and it’s a giant explosion of frantic opinion-sharing activity.

For about … a day. And then it all goes away. Sure, there’s followup coverage as people find bugs and hidden features, but after that initial blast, not many people revisit the device to see how it feels a few months later, because everyone’s already focused on the next big deal coming down the pipe.

So let’s do something about that. Let’s see how we feel about devices when they’re not shiny and new anymore. This is After The Buzz.

After reviewing the amount of phones that we go through every year, it’s hard to not resist each competing device that comes along. That, of course, unless you actually find one that satisfies what you’re looking for in a device. These needs vary with every one of us, but HTC has been trying to nail that perfect device over the last couple of years. Surely its quarter results may not be the best, and its sales figures may not be either, but if there’s one thing we’ve noticed over the last couple of years, is that their products reflect anything but restraint.

If you’re still on the ropes asking yourself which is the best smartphone for you, you’ve come to the right place. The HTC One M8 has been in the market for more than three months, and surely with the amount of competition that it faces today, it’s hard to decide if you should stick to the One M8, or give one of the newer devices a chance. Watch our second visit at the HTC One M8, and join the discussion, tell us if you own one, or if you’re out to get one.
