Over the course of the past week, we’ve had three separate chances to look at imagery purporting to depict the HTC M8. First we had that rear shot that looked legit enough, but an HTC exec quickly called it into question. Then there were those front shots that appeared to be more like a Photoshopped HTC One than anything – and indeed, screenshots that would leak soon after seemed to contradict them. But then by the third leak we were back on solid ground, as it seemed to confirm that first pic and also offer a few convincing shots of the phone’s front. That’s where we look again today, as a new image shows off the phone’s face in the best quality yet.
The most telling bit here is the location of what appear to be the phone’s proximity/light sensors, and while they were over on the left side with the One, One Mini, and One Max (not to mention that fake-looking “M8” mock-up we mentioned), this time they’re on the right, next to the front-facer, and are oriented vertically, rather than horizontally.
We still have a large number of questions about this handset – exactly what is the difference between the two rear cameras, for instance – but when it comes to the handset’s design, we’re starting to become quite confident that what we’re looking at in images like this one is indeed what we’ll see, come launch day.
