HTC lead designer leaves the company after one year

HTC’s Vice President of Design, Jonah Becker, announced on Twitter that he steps down from his role within HTC, after seventeen years of being with the company. While he prepares for his “new adventure” — most probably outside of HTC — we can’t help but wonder what will happen to the Taiwanese phone maker and its upcoming models.

Becker is one of the people you can thank for the great design of the HTC One M8 (and M9, since they’re so alike), but his departure comes less than a year after taking on this position from his predecessor, Scott Croyle. Becker’s announcement comes right after another major company announcement made recently, where Peter Chou was replaced as CEO of the company by Cher Wang.

HTC officially commented on Becker’s departure: “We can confirm that Jonah Becker has left HTC; he had been with the Company since HTC acquired One & Co over six years ago. We would like to thank Jonah for his work with HTC, and wish him all the best in his future endeavours. He has been succeeded by Daniel Hundt, based in our San Francisco design office.
