HTC Honored with Design Awards by Three Separate Organizations

Taiwanese phone manufacturer HTC has every right to brag about its accomplishments as it has been honored with eight Awards for excellence in product design, originating from three separate international organizations.

“Countless HTC employees came together to earn the recognition we received at IDEA 2011, red dot 2011 and IDA 2010,” said Scott Croyle, vice president of design at HTC. At the 2011 International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) only, HTC collected four awards as follows: Gold for the HTC Droid Incredible, silver for the HTC EVO 4G, bronze for the HTC Legend with the HTC Aria being a finalist in the communications tool category.

HTC ads the March 2011 “Red Dot” to the above, with the EVO 4G winning the “red dot: best of the best” award. HTC Legend and HTC Aria also won a red dot, for high design quality. More recently, in May, the International Design Awards (IDA) granted Gold for the HTC Legend.

You might say some of these smartphones are rather old and outdated just as some would say that HTC is lacking inspiration in design following the same basic guidelines in all of its phones. What do you think of the Taiwanese devices? Are they boring or do they still have the “innovational edge?”
