The good old HTC HD2… Regardless if you’re currently an iOS, Android, or Windows Phone fan, or you prefer Apple, Samsung, Nokia, HTC, LG, Sony, or another OEM, you have to give it to the good old HTC HD2! Over the course of its four year existence, this dinosaur ran anything, really, and now it looks to be running Android 4.4 KitKat, like a champ! (which, by itself, should be no surprise as we’ve just seen the Nexus One being capable of running it).

XDA Developers have cooked up a KitKat ROM for the HD2; whether it’s a proof of concept, or just because “they can”, the HD2 shows the world, once again, that it’s a true classic, an evergreen. Don’t expect things to be perfect! SD card, WiFi and data connections don’t work, and the camera doesn’t work either (though there are mixed reports on this). There are also some other issues like the need to search for the operator upon a reboot. Beyond the HD2’s respectable age, glitches might also be explained by the “alpha” stage of this ROM. You will be able to place and receive phone calls though; touchscreen, bluetooth, and audio have been reported to operate normally.

If you’re an expert in flashing stuff to your HD2 and you understand the risks, you can follow the source link below for downloads, instructions, and feedback. Meanwhile we’ll continue to take our hats off to the HD2, and its community.
