Correction: An earlier version of this story mentioned that the Pixel phones are on sale in India from today. They are on pre-sale. Pocketnow regrets the error.
Google’s replacement for the Nexus line, the Pixel and Pixel XL, is on pre-order starting today and will be available in over 1,000 stores in time for your Diwali festivities. And while the phone is branded as one “Made by Google,” the original device manufacturer, HTC, will be handling the warranty work in the subcontinent.
“We have partnered with HTC India for after sales service in 56 walk-in service centres in over 30 cities,” one spokesperson told Gadgets Now.
The Pixel phones will be imported into the country, despite the fact that HTC has a contracted factory there. The units will be sent through distributor Redington India to large chain retailers including Vijay Sales, Croma, Reliance Digital, Jumbo, Spice Mobility, Poorvika, and Sangeetha Mobile. Flipkart will handle reservations starting today and going through October 31.
Indeed, it would certainly help to get a web of partners set up in time to flesh out any major tech product’s availability in India. For Google, it just happens to be HTC.
