If your device's camera features a flash, there's a good chance you have an app installed to turn the LED light(s) into a working flashlight. Unfortunately, most of these apps don't have appealing GUIs to go along with the great functionality. HTC changed all that with their beautiful flashlight app for the HD2, which was leaked not too long ago. Although many users were thrilled, one flaw in particular was repeatedly mentioned.

When the app launches, it makes the handler watch an animated demo of the flashlight shifting through different modes. If I'm using my phone as a light, it usually means I'm looking for something I just dropped, and thus it's urgent. So, the last thing I'd want to see is a pointless demo :). Well, you knew someone at XDA would find a way to tweak it to make it more practical and that day has come.

NetRipper, developer of TorchButton, has adjusted HTC's flashlight app to rid it of the opening demo, which many have referred to as "annoying." You can get it from XDA-developers, but there appears to be several solutions at the moment. You can either download the original CAB and then replace the .exe with NetRipper's fix or you can try a CAB with the fix included. For those who encounter an unsigned certificate error (depends on ROM), try this solution.

Note: this flashlight app only works for the HD2.
