HTC executives shuffled: Cher Wang takes Peter Chou’s place as company CEO

The Taiwanese phone manufacturer has made a big announcement today involving its leadership. HTC executives are being shuffled around, and Cher Wang, Chairman and co-founder of HTC, has been named as CEO by the The Board of Directors of HTC Corporation. Cher Wang will take Peter Chou’s place in becoming the Chief Executive Office of the company.

Where does that leave Peter Chou, the former CEO? According to the official wording, Peter Chou “will transition to a strategic new role leading future product innovation”. We’re not quite sure what that means, but we’re guessing, judging by the wording, that Peter Chou will have an even more important role in the development of new and current products. His official title has now become Head of HTC Future Development Lab, and his most important duty will be to “identifying future growth opportunities for the Company”.

“As an entrepreneur at heart, I am excited to see so many new opportunities, and I am honoured to accept this opportunity to help shape the next stage of HTC’s development”, said Cher Wang, who has been actively taking over some of the management duties from Peter Chou in the recent years, allowing Chou to focus more on product development.

We’re hoping this will lead to more Peter Chou face time for some of us.
