HTC’s Droid Incredible 2 on Verizon saw a relatively minor update arrive back in September, offering several performance tweaks and stability improvements. It looks like another such low-key update is going to be on its way shortly, as the documentation in support of its release has recently been posted to Verizon’s support page for the smartphone.

Incredible 2 system software 5.10.605.9 features a mix of security updates and general bugfixes. The security bits include certificate revocation for some of the recent incidents with compromised CAs, as well as fixing a vulnerability tied to PNG files.

Email sync should now work properly at all hours of the day, and roaming controls will function in Canada. There are unspecified fixes to the phone’s clock and alarm, and look for an improved signal strength indicator. An odd-sounding bug that preempted video playback while the phone was in airplane mode has also been resolved.

We haven’t heard any specific reports of Incredible 2 users receiving the update already, but when Verizon gets everything set up like this, it’s usually a matter of days to a week or two before the update actually drops; be on the lookout!
