Things have been relatively quiet on the HTC Android 6.0 updating front for the past couple of months, as the Taiwanese device manufacturer slowly spread the One M8 and One M9 Marshmallow love worldwide, including on pretty much all major US carriers.

But now the calm is just about to turn into a storm, as several older and newer mid-rangers get ready to follow their flagship cousins on the battery life, security and performance-enhancing M bandwagon.

First up, you have your HTC Desire Eye, “confirmed” a couple of months ago as headed to software heaven, and reportedly receiving over-the-air treats as we speak in select European markets, plus the UAE.

Launched way back in November 2014 with KitKat pre-installed, the 13MP rear camera and 13MP front camera-sporting 5.2-incher was first promoted to Lollipop, and can now make the next step, as long as you have a lot of unoccupied internal storage space. As much as 2GB, to be exact, with an “interim” 360MB update rolling out to “prepare your device to install Android 6.0”, and then the actual installation package tipping the scales at a whopping 1.6 gigs.

The Desire Eye is still sold stateside with AT&T subsidies, and Ma Bell customers should be happy to hear their own bundle of Marshmallow joy is coming in a matter of weeks.

Meanwhile, the HTC One E8 is treated to an Android 6.0 makeover in China, and both the European and India-specific One M8 Eye variants are also scoring M delights. You’re looking at two-part updates across the board weighing in at more than 1GB in total, as well as imminent global expansions. Nicely done, HTC!
