Will HTC make a big showing at IFA this year? This week’s launch of the One M8 for Windows (not to mention the Butterfly 2), with IFA so nearby, might be seen as HTC subtly rejecting the idea of using the expo as a venue for introducing new hardware, but we wouldn’t be so sure. At least, the Verizon launch exclusivity puts a US focus on the phone that might not fly so well at IFA. But if not this new Windows Phone model, then what might IFA get from the OEM? A not-so-subtle teaser just been released by one of HTC’s social media accounts may have answers, seeming to reveal a new Desire 820.

Even though HTC continues to introduce the Desire 816 to new markets, the mid-ranger’s already starting to show its age a little bit, having launched back at the start of the year. Some fresh blood may be just what the doctor ordered, and while this teaser itself doesn’t seem to tell us much about the phone’s hardware, separate rumors have attempted to work out just what the 820 will deliver.

Qualcomm’s recently been talking about its Snapdragon 615 SoC, an octa-core 64-bit component. It’s far from a lock, but some sources have suggested that the 820 could end up powered by such a chip. Even if that’s true, we have questions about what that choice of SoC could mean for the 820’s availability, but we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it.
