After several iterations of last year’s Desire 626, HTC has decided to finally give a full update to the series. While new and more impressive specs are appreciated, we’re left confused as to what the Desire 628 has to do with the Desire 630 we learned about at MWC.
Twitter leaker The Malignant has posted some specs of the 628 with some familiar looking skeumorphs.

If anything, the Desire 628 looks to be more like the Desire 830 in the dimensions of a Desire 630. The 628 and 830 share front panel designs, the octa-core MediaTek processor, the 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage and, likely, the 13-megapixel camera. It’s just in a package like the Desire 630’s that has a five-inch, 720p display and a 2,200mAh power pack.
The new Desire 800-series phones are already out in certain markets while the lower-tiered ones are expected within the month — and again, in certain markets. If a Desire 628 exists, we should see it come along with said tier.
