For about the past month or so, owners of HTC’s Amaze 4G on T-Mobile have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of the update that would bring their phones Ice Cream Sandwich. T-Mobile first tipped subscribers off to the news that updates for both the Amaze 4G and Sensation 4G would be here quite shortly; that seemed to imply that the previously-rumored June dates for the arrival of these updates might be off. Sure enough, we soon got word of a confirmed release date for the Sensation, but found ourselves waiting just a little longer for news on the Amaze. Last week, though, the carrier finally spilled the beans, revealing plans to make the update available today, May 21. Right on schedule, Amaze owners are confirming that Ice Cream Sandwich is now theirs for the tasting.

If you don’t feel like waiting for notification of the update to arrive on its own, you can speed things along by doing a manual check and get started downloading system software 2.14.531.3710RD, bringing with it Android 4.0.3. Same as with the Sensation’s update, this release includes HTC’s Sense 3.6.

Users are reporting a smooth installation, without any yet-apparent bugs. You can check out complete installation instructions and release notes over at T-Mobile’s support page for the Amaze 4G.
