Download This Google Maps Client For iOS 6 Before It’s Pulled

It’s clear that Maps on iOS 6 is bad. The list of complaints is huge, and the fact that Apple’s own CEO, Tim Cook felt a need to apologize is a clear sign that things aren’t good. Cook linked to some third-party solutions in his apology, but the apps offered are either paid or simply not as reliable as Google maps.

The great thing is that this hasn’t stopped developers. We just ran into this neat Google Maps client called ClassicMap that looks almost identical to Maps on iOS 6, but that’s powered by Google. Keep in mind that this is a version 1.0 though, so don’t expect Street View, Directions or lots of the other features that Android users enjoy from a native Google Maps app. Call this just an easy and free solution for times when you just need to make sure the address you searched for is right.

The app is free, but be sure to download it as soon as you can, even if you don’t need it. You never know what Apple might do once they notice how similar it is to their native Maps client.

Update: Don’t say we didn’t warn you. The app just got pulled. It’s still working for us, so only those that were lucky enough to download it will continue using it. Make sure you don’t delete it from your device though.
