Gold HTC One announced

The HTC One is, by now, available in many colors, including the original Black, Silver, and the later added Blue and Red. We’ve been lucky enough to see a limited edition HTC One made out of 18k gold but today the Taiwanese phone maker announced the HTC One in gold, though there are no karats tied to it.

You’ll basically get the same phone, including the 4.7-inch Full HD screen, a quad-core processor clocked at 1.7GHz, 2GB of RAM, as well as 32 (sometimes 64) gigabytes of internal storage, in addition to the four-megapixel “UltraPixel” camera. What’s new here is the color option which was first introduced as mainstream to a flagship device by Apple and its champagne gold iPhone 5s.

“Building on the all metal design of the HTC One, and the recent success of the HTC 18 carat gold MOBO phone, we are excited to have developed our own gold device, offering yet more choice to consumers”, said Philip Blair, President of HTC EMEA.

Exact availability and pricing depends on regions and markets, but we’ll definitely keep you posted as soon as we find out.

Update: If you’re in the UK, look for the gold One to be available from Phones 4u, Carphone Warehouse, and Vodafone; of the three, Phones 4u has already added the gold One to its listings.
