Size is one of the trickiest trade-offs in the mobile industry. You want a device with a large enough screen to comfortably work on, yet portability issues demand that the overall size of our phones and tablets remain constrained. This year in particular we’ve seen great strides in combating that issue by means of shrinking-down side bezels. Of course, you could just say “the heck with any sensible size restraints” and come up with something along the lines of Microsoft’s latest Surface promotion, a 17-foot-tall Surface 2 it’s set up in London.

This giant Surface 2 is even functional, and has a working Touch Cover keyboard – though in this case, it looks like more of a “Step” Cover. All the input is wired through to an actual Surface 2 tablet, the output of which is mirrored on this giant screen.

If you happen to be in London and near Trafalgar Square, you can swing on by and check out this Surface-zilla yourself. We also hear that there are plenty of Microsoft personnel in the area who will be more than happy to show you a few things on a more human-sized Surface 2 tablet.
