Galaxy S7 sales may balloon Samsung profits for Q2

$5.7 billion last quarter, $6.8 billion this quarter?

Banks are betting on what Samsung has made in operating profit from April on, the first full quarter where the Galaxy S7 has been a factor. It made $42.5 billion in sales last quarter, but with healthy consumer take-up in the new smartphones, that number could soar even further.

Yuanta Securities is estimating about $44 billion in sales revenue with that resulting $6.8 billion profit target. Other firms’ projections begin from at least $6.4 billion. Samsung’s consumer electronics unit saw a gain in profit margin to 4.8 percent in the first quarter.

It will report earnings in about a month’s time.
