Galaxy S7 may still have camera bump, but only half as high as on GS6
New renders of Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S7 have been incoming from multiple sources, and finally this week we’re seeing imagery that attempts to reveal the phone’s back panel. While the general layout doesn’t appears that different from the Galaxy S6, we’ve been hugely curious about the phone’s rear in order to verify one of the rumors we’ve long heard about this handset: that Samsung was finally doing something about the GS6’s quite pronounced camera bump. Would the camera on the GS7 really sit flush with the phone’s body? The first back render didn’t do much to answer that question, and while the latest clearly still shows a bump, it’s been tricky to eyeball just how big it might be. Now a new leak attempts to set the record straight, giving us a clear measurement for just how far the GS7’s camera module protrudes.
As you can see above, while the GS7 should still have a camera bump, expect it to be far slimmer than what we had last year, coming in at just about half the height of the GS6’s camera.
We know: absolutely flush would have been awesome. And there are going to be some users who just won’t be happy with anything else. But this still looks to be a significant improvement over Samsung’s last generation, and especially if the image quality this camera produces is as impressive as we’re hoping it to be, being able to drastically slim things down in the process is a pretty solid accomplishment.
What do you think? Can you live with this camera? Or should Samsung have pushed limits even further?
