One of our favorite things about the Galaxy S6 (as well as the Galaxy S6 Edge) is the ability to transform the handset’s look with just a few taps as we try on some of the phone’s alternate themes. The powerful theming engine Samsung’s gifted the phone with gives users the ability to adapt TouchWiz to their tastes, and we’ve already talked about some of our top choices in posts and on the Pocketnow Weekly podcast. Additional themes are arriving all the time, and today a particularly attention-grabbing one has landed, giving the GS6 a very stock-Android-inspired Material Design overhaul.

Created by designer Samer Zayer, this is probably as close as we’re going to get to a Galaxy S6 Google Play edition. The icons may not be pure-stock, but they sure look the part, and the other thematic elements of the UI clearly take strong inspiration from Google’s Material Design guidelines.

There are other Material Design-ified in the works for the GS6 – assuming Samsung approves them – so while this one may not be the only option for long, it’s our first look at a Galaxy S6 decked out in such a manner.
