Samsung expects record Galaxy S6 sales, Galaxy S6 Edge shortage

Samsung really managed to pleasantly surprise everyone with the S6 and S6 Edge (and you can tell we’re amped if you check out our review, if you haven’t already). The phone is everything a real flagship is supposed to be, this time, with better looks and materials; no wonder Samsung is forecasting/expecting to break shipment records (not that in the past it had problems, with every iteration outselling the previous one).

On that exact note, you should expect a Galaxy S6 Edge shortage, according to Reuters, as Samsung will most probably have issues with meeting production demands for the curved variant.

J.K. Shin himself has announced that Samsung is expected to have difficulties in manufacturing the curved displays for the Edge, which will lead to a Galaxy S6 shortage, despite the “classic” S6 is expected to outsell the curved version, because of its cheaper price and “classic” form factor.

Regarding the Qualcomm-Samsung issue (where Samsung decided to go with its in-house chip for the S6), Shin said: “we have to use the best engines to make our products competitive, which is why we opted to use our own chips. But we may very well end up using products from Qualcomm again in the next Galaxy phone.”
