Galaxy S III Verizon Launch Gets A Small Delay

The first carriers in the US to offer Samsung’s Galaxy S III will do so in just one week. Not everyone is going to be joining the GS3 party before the end of the month, though, and we’ve already been expecting Verizon, at least, to not begin shipping GS3 pre-orders until July 9. Well, if you’re already waiting that long, what’s the harm in waiting a little longer; Verizon has now changed its tune to indicate that GS3s may not ship until July 10.
Rather than just explaining the cause of this new delay, Verizon is leaving us to speculate on our own. Could it be seeing pre-order sales that are threatening to exhaust its initial supply of the model? In that case, would users who have already put their orders in still expect to see them ship by July 9, and only more recently-submitted orders would stand to arrive a little later?
We know it’s only a matter of a day, but seeing a carrier play with release dates like this without any sort of explanation is just a little bit irritating. If you’ve already placed a GS3 pre-order with Verizon, we’d recommend following-up with the company to see if it intends to follow-though with its original shipment promise.
