Galaxy Note III screen might not grow that much
Rumors about Samsung’s alleged sequel to the Galaxy Note II (above) have yet to converge upon a unified description of the phablet’s hardware. We’ve heard a number of ideas put forth for what SoC that Note III might run, as well as for just how large a display Samsung might be thinking about. Numbers like 6.3 inches and 5.9 inches have been mentioned, in line with the company’s new Mega-series models, but the latest Note III rumor to arrive suggests that any size gains could be much more modest.
At least, that’s the impression that tipster @evleaks has, who posted to Twitter that he’s learned the Note III should feature a 5.7-inch display. With more smartphones pushing into the five-inch range, we wondered if Samsung might be interested in making the Note even larger in order to differentiate it, but this could spell for a Note III only modestly larger than the Note II and its 5.5-inch screen.
Separately, industry rumors suggest that production of the Note III will take place in earnest beginning sometime in August; that timing could mean that Samsung will announce the Note III at this year’s IFA in Berlin, just as it did last year with the Note II.
