Galaxy Note Edge

Was it going to happen or not? For ages now we’ve heard rumors about a new look for the Note, with Samsung putting its experience with curved display technology to use and delivering a Galaxy Note whose screen seamlessly flowed right off the phablet’s face, spilling over to the edges. Even in the days leading up to today’s Unpacked 2 event, we were on the fence, not sure if this version would be announced at all, or maybe just teased for some distant launch date. Instead, we got some fantastic news as Samsung didn’t just announce the Galaxy Note Edge, but revealed that sales will begin before the end of the year.

We know you don’t want to wait even a couple more months to get to see what the deal is with this innovative new design for a smartphone, so we sought-out a Note Edge in Berlin to give it the hands-on video treatment, seeing just how this one-of-a-kind display works in person.

Is that exposed screen edge a legitimately useful addition to Samsung’s phablet form factor, or are we just giddy over seeing something new and different? What’s it like using a phone with that extra screen space just sort of hanging-out over there on the side? And really, is it as cool in person as it looks over the internet? Watch on to check out our first look at this compelling new hardware.
