Galaxy Note 5 launch date confirmed by Korean media, Galaxy S6 Edge Plus coming too

We’ve been hearing all these reports that, strangely aren’t conflicting — you know, like reports usually do — regarding an earlier-than-usual announcement from Samsung. Some claimed August 12, others agreed, while others suggest August 13, but, in any case, earlier than last year’s (and the years before) IFA unveiling.

August 13 is the Galaxy Note 5 launch date according to a report from the Korean media; said event would be allegedly held in New York, something we’ve heard previously, and said event would also bring us the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, the larger version of Samsung’s curved screen flagship.

Business Korea believes that the move to an earlier launch is due to the fact that Samsung wants to counter Apple’s upcoming unveiling of the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. “It is believed that Samsung tries to not only check Apple, which threatens its number one position in global smartphone market share, but also capture consumers before the release of the iPhone 6S in Sep“, claims the report.

The report also reiterates some of the specs we should expect for these two upcoming devices.

For the Galaxy Note 5: 5.7 inch QHD Super AMOLED display, Exynos 7422 processor, 4GB of RAM, 16MP main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), S-Pen.

For the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus: “a note without a stylus”, claims the report, with the same specs as above, except for the RAM, which is said to be 3GB instead of 4.
