UAProf for Tizen-running Samsung Redwood reveals hardware details

Samsung’s told us to expect the first smartphones running the new Tizen platform to arrive towards the end of Q3 2013 – sometime in August or September. We’ve heard rumors about a couple models in particular, codenamed Redwood and Melius. Since then, we’ve learned that Melius might be an Android, instead, but that leaves Redwood, attached to model number GT-I8805. Armed with that, the phone’s User Agent Profile has been unearthed, which not only confirms the Tizen presence, but also gives us some insight into the phone’s hardware.

For instance, we’ve heard that Tizen hardware would be comparatively high-end (at least when put up against the likes of Firefox OS), and that seems confirmed here, with evidence of specs like a 720p display.

It’s also worth noting that while this UAProf exists for the GT-I8805, there’s no similar file on Samsung’s servers for the GT-I8800, which was what that earlier rumor had the Melius arriving as – that could just be further proof that this model is no longer in development, if it ever even was.
