Amazon Fire HD 10 gets aluminium jacket for no extra change

When it comes to tablets, Amazon keeps it fairly frugal by giving out some barebone hardware, yet promising a smooth experience. That’s recipe for a $50 tablet that became a runaway hit.

But its bigger tablets haven’t been getting as much love. Competitors have been more price-aggressive in the eight-to-ten inch range.

Amazon’s token response is to give its Fire HD 10 a new coat. Specifically, a silver aluminium coat. Nothing has changed between the 1280 x 800 display, MediaTek processor or the price — still $229.99 for a 16GB starter.

It’s a subtle change. Perhaps it may be too subtle?
