Faster GPS Fix via FasterFix for Android

By Joe Levi November 10, 2010, 12:00 pm

Is your GPS location-fix laggy? Do you want to know where you are just a bit faster? If so, FasterFi x might just be the app you're looking for!

This probably won't help you if you're in the U.S., and you'll need to have a rooted phone with busybox installed, but if that's you, your days of waiting on your GPS may be in the past.

Previously you could edit your gps.conf file manually, providing a better/closer server from which to get the GPS satellite data from, but that's annoying, and potentially prone to human error. FasterFix essentially does this for you by presenting you with a dropdown list from which you pick your region, or you can set your own custom server.

Once that's done, you can exit and remove the app, you don't even have to keep it installed.

Interested? Head on over to the XDA-Developers thread, download and sideload the .apk, and you're on your way!
