Facebook for Android 1.5.3 Released With Friend Status Tagging

Facebook has just updated its Android app to version 1.5.3, fixing a few bugs and adding a handful of new features.

It’s been about a month since the company last updated its Android app. The most interesting change in this new edition of the mobile app is that you can now tag your friends when posting status updates. All you have to do is precede one of their names with an @-sign when writing a status update in order to create a link back to the friend’s account.

Version 1.5.3 adds support for the site’s Find Friends feature, helping you discover people whom you should know based on where you live, work, and who your friends are, so you can expand the reach of your social network. As far as minor changes go, you’ll now also be able to add your mobile phone number to your profile via the app, keeping friends updated on how to get in touch with you.

Facebook for Android 1.5.3 is available in the Android Market now.
