The Meizu PRO 6 still feels just about new and it doesn’t seem fair to talk about its successor right now, but the vice president of the company is talking and he’s talking processor power.

In a group chat, Li Nan said that the PRO 7 would not be using an Exynos 8890 processor because the chipset doesn’t support all three of China’s cellular networks. An upcoming Exynos chip may have that support, but we don’t have any indication that Meizu will take it up. Qualcomm chips likely won’t make the cut, either.

Despite rumors that an Exynos 8890 would be coming to either a revised PRO 6 or an MX6, Meizu applied MediaTek’s Helio X25 and X20 chipsets to both phones.
