If Xiaomi indeed plans to finally branch out into the hugely lucrative US smartphone business before long, it may as well bring something unique and revolutionary to the hyper-demanding (especially with foreigners) American audience.
The looming Mi Note 2 (and its super-high-end Pro derivation) fits the bill perfectly going on rumors, although we can’t help feel an “edgy” screen with virtually no borders is a little too much to ask from the “Apple of China.”
Considering how challenging such a design might be, particularly when no one else has pulled it off just yet, a commercial rollout stateside is completely out of the question. The Xiaomi Mi Note 2 will probably also need a bit of time to go wide domestically, following a tad close on the footsteps of the impressive but confusing Mi 5s and Mi 5s Plus.
This time, tipsters expect the Pro variant to go all-in on the best possible hardware, Quad HD display resolution, 6GB RAM and Snapdragon 821 processing power included, with the “standard” Mi Note 2 likely to settle for 4 gigs of memory, a Full HD 5.5-inch or so panel, and SD820 SoC.
Both configurations are said to take a page from Samsung, with dual-curved designs, purportedly beating the iPhone 8 to the bezel-less punch, but Xiaomi can only confirm something big (and vague) is coming next Tuesday, October 25, at a dedicated Beijing press event.
