Motorola starting Droid Turbo Lollipop soak test (finally)

The road to Android Lollipop on Motorola’s Droid Turbo has been a long and frustrating one. As if the months and months of waiting haven’t been bad enough, there have been the false starts, like a few weeks back when Verizon started advertising Lollipop availability for the Droid Turbo when the release was actually still under internal testing. And while we haven’t seen the update emerge just yet, it finally looks like we’re really getting down to the home stretch here, as Motorola invites for a public Droid Turbo soak test are revealed to be for just this long-awaited Lollipop update.

Members of the Motorola Feedback Network recently started receiving invitations to test a new Droid Turbo update, one that’s since been confirmed to deliver Android Lollipop to the phone. Soak tests like this one tend to predate broader availability by a few weeks, but are still a strong sign that the code is nearly ready to go – assuming no last-minute glitches pop up.

What does that mean about when you might expect your Droid Turbo to get a Lollipop OTA notification? It could be anywhere from a couple weeks to a month or more, but considering just how long we’ve been waiting already, we really want to believe this release could be here soon. Then again, luck doesn’t seem to have been on the Droid Turbo’s side so far, so maybe patience is the best approach.
