Windows 10 Mobile is far and away the most immature of the major operating systems on the market so far. The many and the proud devices that were able to make the jump from Windows Phone 8.1 to W10M have been made familiar with its quirks. And its bugs.

Those who don’t appreciate bootloops as well as the loss of the Lumia Camera app, good news: Microsoft has now decided that those phones will be able to keep their original recovery images so that users who aren’t enjoying Windows 10 Mobile can back out and return to WP8.1. Those looking to roll back to an earlier W10M build will need to use the recovery tool to drop back to 8.1 and download two updates to get back to square one.

One of the consequences of Microsoft’s reduced priority on Windows 10 Mobile has been a loosened development atmosphere with fewer strings to keep users on the same software version. After all, it feels like this whole thing’s still in beta. Not good as a selling point.
