DirecTV subscribers can get iPhone 6s free, up to five more half-off at AT&T
AT&T and its subsidiary, DirecTV, have a unique synergy in that they both provide services that, for the most part, bypass wires — because who gets free over-the-air transmissions anymore?
So, if you get a satellite TV package in addition to your cellphone service in the Rocky Mountain, Northern Plains or Mid-Atlantic regions, you’ll be able to get a free iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus. You’ll also get half-off the price of up to five more such devices.
Here’s the major catch: the discount comes in the form of bill credits over 30 months on the AT&T Next plan and the amount is only relative to the 16GB iPhone 6s. Get anything better and customers eat the difference.
AT&T has been offering an unlimited data plan exclusive to DirecTV customers for the past few months and has recruited 3 million subscribers to it. Apple would also like to see its sales channels get leaner on their iPhone inventories and this is a huge chance for the Death Star to do so.
And so, what DirecTV can offer is an indirect sales draw for AT&T.
