Dell has missed deadline after deadline in delivering the Android 5.0 Lollipop update to its Venue 8 7840 tablet, but it’s finally pulled through today and delivered the update to Android 5.0.2. The Dell Venue 8 7840 Lollipop update brings all of the Material Design goodies Venue 8 7840 users have definitely been yearning for (for months, too, at this point).

The Venue 8 7840 didn’t have much of a Dell skin atop stock KitKat to begin with – it stuck to a very slightly modified version of vanilla KitKat, though it did feature a couple tweaks in the design. With Lollipop, it seems that Dell has made the decision to entirely do away with these design modifications, opting instead for a clean adopting of Material Design as Google intended.

The build of the update is Android 5.0.2 – not the newer, less buggy 5.1 – though Lollipop is Lollipop, and we’re sure this build has gone through numerous tests before being green-lighted for distribution. The update should be available now in the System Update section of Settings for all Venue 8 7840 device owners. If you have a Venue 8 7840 yourself, let us know below what you think of the updated build once you get set up on the Lollipop version!
