Could Kanye West be a lead negotiator in Apple’s acquisition of Tidal?

Kanye West seems to be a huge supporter of a deal that would see Jay-Z’s Tidal music streaming service get picked up by Apple. He also indicates that negotiations between the two entities are at a stalling point.

In a series of tweets, West asks for some co-operation between the two sides to strike a deal. He also alludes to his position against services claiming exclusivity on new works or artists — a position coming from his experience in distributing his “The Life of Pablo” album beyond Tidal and seeing downloads rocket.

Kanye cavalierly mentions executives — present and past — of both parties like he knows them intimately. We don’t know how intimate his part has been in meetings or if he’s just outside the loop.

The deal is rumored to be worth some $500 million to Jay-Z. Its subscriber base of more than 4 million would add on nicely to Apple Music’s 15 million or so.
