Latest budget iPhone photo appears to show progress: now with FCC label

So far this summer, there have been a number of leaked images purporting to show off the new, plastic, budget iPhone hardware. Shots of multi-colored shells have looked legitimate enough, and where those leaks failed us, we’ve seen quite a few high quality renders of the hardware. Today we get what might be an indication of the phone getting even close to launch, showing off its FCC markings.

You might remember checking out a render earlier this month that showed a similar-looking white budget iPhone, but so far all the images we’ve seen of actual hardware have been lacking anything but an iPhone logo around back.

You’ll also notice a chromed-out metallic ring surrounding both the Lightning port and headphone jack – some previously looks at the hardware had suggested that these components would match the rest of the phone’s coloring, but we’ve also seen the phone appearing like this.  Right now, it’s hard to tell what’s really the final look.

Obviously, we’ll be keeping an eye out for signs of any FCC paperwork to go along with these new markings, but we wouldn’t recommend holding your breath.
