Bluetooth LE was rumored, back in summer, to come to Lumia Windows Phones as part of the Amber software update. If you have a Lumia 520, 620, 625, or 720, and it is running Amber, you are already able to benefit from the Low Energy protocols.

According to a Nokia FAQ page, “with Lumia Black software update, Bluetooth LE will be enabled across the full WP8 Lumia range.” That’s exciting if you are using accessories paired to your phone, like heart-rate monitors, and alike.

As a reminder, Bluetooth LE enables users, according to the FAQ page mentioned above, to use such accessories for a long period of time: “the accessory battery will last much longer, up to months”.
