Blackphone in pictures (Gallery)

As studious subscribers of our YouTube Channel already know, we just unboxed a brand-new Blackphone courtesy of the good people at GSM Nation. After breaking cover at MWC in February, the security-centric smartphone is finally hitting US store shelves over the next few weeks, and we’ll be giving it the full review treatment –as well as a slot in the Pocketnow Summer of Giveaways– in the next week or so.

While Blackphone is already well-known in tech circles as the world’s only consumer smartphone focused primarily on privacy, there are precious few photos out there to show potential buyers what kind of communicator they’re considering. We called the flat black slab “completely nondescript” in our unboxing video (seriously, it’s more minimalistic than a Nexus 5), but whatever your aesthetic preferences, a one-of-a-kind smartphone like this deserves to be photographed from as many angles as possible.

So judge for yourself. Take a gander at the Blackphone gallery below –and the unboxing video embedded for your convenience below it– and stay tuned for Pocketnow’s full review coming next week. If you’re considering a Blackphone of your own, do what we did: go ahead and bookmark GSM Nation’s preorder page. And if there’s something specific you want to know about the Blackphone before our review lands, stop by the Pocketnow Weekly podcast at 2pm today (Friday, August 8): we’ll be answering your Blackphone questions live on the air, and we’d love to have you!
