RIM may be preparing a hardware refresh for the BlackBerry Storm 2 9550, allegedly dubbed the BlackBerry 9570, although this device seems to be different than the rumored “Storm 3” we saw a few days ago. According to BlackBerry Leaks, which has posted both a purported image of the phone as well as a smattering of specs, the 9570 will pack 512MB of RAM, a five-megapixel camera, and — perhaps most importantly — BlackBerry’s all new OS 6. BGR is speculating that the refresh is necessary because OS 6 requires 512MB of RAM, meaning that the current crop of Storm 2’s are not suitable for official upgrades.

Of course, given that PhoneArena saw mention of a “Storm 3 9570” in purported leaked Verizon documents last month, and that these specs sound an awful lot like the “Odin Refresh” we caught wind of back in July, it’s looking more and more like the 9570 will indeed be marketed as the Storm 3, and the mystery device may be a future Storm or Torch, perhaps that rumored, LTE-equipped unit making the rounds in June.
