While RIM is struggling to regain their (lost) place in the top, the philosophy of Canada’s favorite smartphones and tablets manufacturer also seems to change, as small joys are definitely preferable to no joy at all. In fact, RIM recently posted on their Twitter page that the BlackBerry PlayBook was the best selling tablet in Canada last week, both at BestBuy and Future Shop. No numbers though and nothing about the overall sales in Canada.

The news is good however, as the launch of Apple’s iPad 3 approaches and RIM needs to take its tablets to as many users as possible until then, knowing that Apple is the market leader even in Canada and that, in the US, Amazon’s Kindle Fire targets almost the same audience as the BlackBerry PlayBook. Launched at $499, the BB PlayBook can now be found at $199, a detail that — together with the 2.0 OS, which adds in functionality — might have something to do with RIM’s recent – and maybe short – success.
