AT&T to Welcome an HTC Intruder Soon

A leaked inventory screenshot from the computer system of US carrier AT&T hints at an HTC-made Android handset with the name of Intruder. The HTC Intruder is believed by many in the tech community to be the HTC Aria, rumored to be an Android version of the HTC Tilt/Tilt2. The device was rumored to have a landscape-oriented sliding QWERTY keyboard, tilting screen, Android, and a smaller footprint than the Tilt2. However, the new rendering shows a keyboard-less device with an HVGA touchscreen that more closely resembles a smaller version of the HTC Droid Incredible on Verizon Wireless. Another name that’s also been floating around for HTC and AT&T is the HTC Liberty. It could be that the Aria will be the keyboarded version called the Intruder and the Liberty could be a keyboardless version.

The HTC Intruder for AT&T is said to have a 2.5- to 2.8-inch display, Android 2.1 with HTC Sense, optical trackpad, and a 5-megapixel camera.

The Intruder is expected to retail for $699 unsubsidized and contract-free, which is on the pricier end, especially for a carrier-branded and locked smartphone. On contract and after rebates, however, it will go for a more manageable $130.
