Today’s the first day of May, which means that it’s time for LG’s New York event. The company already let slip that we should expect news about the Optimus G Pro, leaving us only to wonder which carrier (or carriers) might see the Android become a part of its lineup. With FCC evidence pointing to an AT&T Optimus G Pro, we had our guesses, and sure enough, today LG and AT&T confirmed the carrier as the exclusive US home for the smartphone.

Pre-orders open up on May 3, with the G Pro finally arriving on May 10. The 5.5-inch 1080p handset will run you just about $200 on-contract, and if you pre-order you can also snag a free Quick Cover black folio case.

In other Optimus G Pro news, you might remember that Japan got a smaller 5-inch version of the phone, which we had been wondering if LG might be so inclined to make available elsewhere. Sure enough, LG has announced a model called the Optimus GK that sounds a whole lot like that Japanese G Pro, with a 5-inch 1080p display and the same Snapdragon 600 SoC. The GK will come to Korea, leaving us wondering if it will also show up in the West one day.
