Possible Asus ZenFone 3 variant with 5.9-inch screen, 3GB RAM benchmarked
Who’s ready for an onslaught of next-generation Asus ZenFones? Well, don’t get too ready just yet, as the first of likely many ZenFone 3 derivations is only tipped to go official in May with a fingerprint scanner and USB Type-C port in tow.
A different Asus ZenFone 3 configuration, model numbered Z010DD, very recently got benchmarked through GFX Bench, and already runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow on a large but average-sounding 5.9-inch 1,280 x 720 pix res screen.
That’s obviously the main reason we don’t think we’re looking at the highest-end ZenFone 3 variant here, since the best ZenFone 2 sported a Full HD 5.5-inch display, not to mention 4GB RAM, up 1 gig from the Z010DD’s memory count.
The on-board processor, which is an octa-core Snapdragon 615, doesn’t seem very remarkable either, so all in all, this is almost surely a jumbo-sized, low-cost take on the base looming ZenFone 3. Another take paid the same benchmarking authority a quick visit last month, shrinking the panel to 5.5 inches, hiking its resolution to 1080p, retaining the 3GB RAM, and replacing the SD615 chip with a hexa-core Snapdragon 650.
This one is referred to as Z012D, and the family ties with Z008 or Z00AD ZenFone 2 models are equally obvious as in the case of the Z010DD ZenFone 3. Still, you shouldn’t lose hope of also seeing a Snapdragon 820/4GB RAM/Quad HD screen config destined to help Asus challenge the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S7 in the flagship décor. Otherwise, that 30 million sales target will start to feel quite impossible to achieve.
