ASUS TF300T Tablet Revealed; Budget-Priced Prime Alternative?

Last spring, ASUS came out with its dual-core Transformer tablet, followed by the quad-core Transformer Prime in December. Since then, we’ve already learned about plans for an upgraded version of the Prime, as model TF700T, with display and camera spec bumps. It looks like that’s not the company’s only tablet on the immediate horizon, as a few images have arrived today that claim to show a currently-unknown TF300T tablet.

At this point, there’s little to go on but speculation; a likely explanation is that we’re looking at what ASUS might be planning as the budget-priced alternative to the Prime. That would likely mean sticking with a dual-core processor, as on the original Transformer, but perhaps making a few upgrades to keep it from seeming like year-old hardware. We might see the same 1080p display the new Prime is getting, for instance, though that could put a serious dent in the hopes of keeping the tablet’s price down.

The only other tidbit revealed in these images is the presence of what appears to be a plastic back panel for the tablet. Maybe ASUS has learned something from its GPS problems, after all.
