It’s not unusual to see tech companies, especially little ones, jump the gun ahead of crowded events like CES or MWC to score their new products a few minutes of fame. But five days in advance of the Mobile World Congress’ start feels way too early, and yet, Archos has already unleashed upon us its latest trio budget-conscious Android slates.

These are called 70 Oxygen, 80 Oxygen, and 101b Oxygen, and obviously range in size from 7 to 10.1 inches. You’d traditionally be looking at the largest model to pack the most punch, but in fact, the three tabs all sport the same exact features.

Same ho-hum quad-core 1.3 GHz MTK 8163A processor, same respectable 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage space, 5 and 2MP cameras, and even the same 8mm profile. Of course, the Archos 101b Oxygen does haul the loftiest battery, however given the screen size disparity, the 80 and 70 Oxygen should deliver similar real-life endurance numbers.

Similar mediocre figures, that is, since the 7-incher barely offers 3,000 mAh juice, the 8-incher 4,500, and the 10.1-incher 6,000 mAh power.

Hard to zero in on a major selling point thus far? How about pre-installed Android 6.0 Marshmallow software? That’s not exactly a given in the sub-$150 range, and at least on British shores, the Archos 70 Oxygen is set to cost a very reasonable £75 ($108), the 80 a slightly steeper £100 ($145), and the 101b the rough equivalent of $175 (£120).

Look for the M-based tabs in Hall 1 booth 1G29 at MWC between February 22 and 25, then in European stores starting May.
