Apple’s Phil Schiller uses last year’s testimony in today’s trial vs. Samsung

If you haven’t been following the developments, today is Apple vs. Samsung, day 2. Apple’s first witness for today is non-other than Apple’s SVP of Worldwide Marketing Phil Schiller. His participation in Apple trials has become quite common, and more specifically, in the previous trials between Apple and Samsung. Today Schiller takes the stage one more time, but oddly didn’t surprise anyone with his statement.

As it turns out, Schiller simply decided to play it safe and re-hash the same statement he’s used in two previous trial testimonies about the reasons why Samsung has infringed in Apple’s patents. In the statement he walks the jury through the whole development process of any Apple product, and obviously how Samsung has benefited from this process time and time again. According to Schiller, Samsung’s copying is hurting Apple’s clout as an innovator, since people can’t really tell what is Apple innovation and what isn’t lately.

There’s a lot more to go in this Apple vs. Samsung trial, and we’re expecting the testimony of a lot more key people from both companies. Let’s see how this helps or hurts Apple’s stance in the long run.
