Apple reportedly working on avoiding Apple Watch launch lines

Apple is not only famous for gaining significant popularity through a very small product portfolio, but also because of the pandemonium that each product launch can generate. At this point you’ve probably already caught certain TV news networks covering the lines that are already building up for the launch of the Apple Watch. At some point most of us assumed that Apple enjoyed this level of publicity for product launches, but new reports claim a different story.

Internal sources claim that Angela Ahrendts, Apple’s VP of retail, has recently sent out a memo to her team explaining the master plan to avoid the crazy lines we’re accustomed to seeing at Apple launch days. According to Ahrendts, there will be much more availability of products on Apple Watch units and 12-inch MacBooks on the company’s online store, than what users will be able to find on brick and mortar stores. This will save customers the disappointing need to “cross their fingers” in a queue in order to be able to grab a product on launch day. This is even more evident in the UK, where you can’t even buy an Apple Watch on any Apple Store, according to the memo. You’ll only have the option to have it shipped to your address, where as US customers do have the store pick-up option available.

Obviously this plan won’t stop scalpers from making the line and try to sell these watches overseas, so we’ll see how this effective Apple’s strategy will be.
