Apple Music on Android gets a widget, still in beta

The Apple Music Android app has been in beta for four-and-some-odd months, but with the iOS release being from June of last year, it feels like the company’s been dragging its feet a bit when it shouldn’t have to, especially in the face of Google’s challenge to potentially kick up more revenue out of iOS. Perhaps Droid dudes and dudettes have too much animosity towards Cupertino for that to make sense.

Anyways, the app is now at v0.9.7 and finally gets a home screen widget and a way to redeem iTunes credit for renewing your membership in-app. You can also preview what’s on Beats 1 with a “now playing” display from the Radio tab, add songs to playlists without having to put them in your library and see the album of the song currently playing by tapping on its name. Also, you can look into the most popular songs from any album on Apple Music.
