With the new Nexus hardware announced, it’s time for the shortest of breathers before we move right into this week’s next big launch, as Apple gears up for tomorrow’s press event. A new iPad is practically assured, with the big questions concerning just which model (or models) would take the stage. We’ll have our official answer in just about a day, but Apple may have let the cat out of the bag a little early, as the company itself seems to have leaked confirmation that an iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3 are just about to drop.

The company just published its iOS 8.1 user guide for the iPad, and only a couple pages in, we find the image above, clearly depicting the two new tablets. Both get the Touch ID fingerprint scanner we’d been looking forward to, and this also helps confirm the iPad mini 3’s name – there had been some uncertainty as to whether this might become something like the iPad Air mini, but that now looks to not be the case.

Now, none of this is to say that both these products will go up for sale straight away – maybe those rumors of iPad mini 3 delays mean that we’re just getting the tablet’s announcement tomorrow, and sales will follow a little further out into the future – but it could just as easily be ready to make an early retail debut. In either case, we’re just excited to have multiple iOS devices to look forward to.
